ABOUT QALB

WHO WE ARE

ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمَا

QALB music was launched by musician, educationalist, and creative producer Sean Corby with a mission to connect world class Jazz and contemporary global musicians with Arabic artists and music creators.

Inspired by a 2024 visit to NEOM, following an invitation by the NEOM entertainments and culture team to perform at OAK Hospitality’s GROUNDS venue in NEOM Media Village, Sean has created Qalb music to foster collaboration between Arabic and Global artists with cultural organisations, and the entertainments and hospitality sectors with a focus on NEOM and the Saudi 2030 vision.

For over 20 years, Sean has toured, performed and recorded with an array of internationally renowned artists from Jamaican Reggae superstars Gregory Isaacs and Dennis Brown, Salsa and Cuban artists Orlando Watusi and Sierra Maestra to Afro-Futurist Keziah Jones, eclectic world-music pioneer Jah Wobble, and Welsh Rock icons the Manic Street Preachers.

In 2012 Sean presented the UK’s inaugural event marking UNESCO International Jazz Day, and from that emerged The Human Revolution Orchestra, which to this day is the UK’s most diverse jazz big-band. He led the band to performances at Ronnie Scott’s and the glorious Union Chapel, established collaborations with legendary U.S guests Bennie Maupin, Marc Cary, and Robin Eubanks, and took the band to work in challenging settings with some of the most marginalized people in UK society.

He has produced education programmes for young learners at institutions including London’s Roundhouse and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and co-founded London’s longest running live jazz event Jazz in the Round with the BBC’s Jez Nelson.

Sean’s work is always underpinned by a deep commitment to respecting human dignity and to promoting cultural exchange, peace, and harmony.

Integral to the services Qalb music offer is a dedication to education, and sadaqah, the voluntary giving of resources, sharing of knowledge and skills, and a willingness to support and encourage those in need.
